Professional Designations

Mr. Mercado currently holds the Certified Senior Advisor (CSA) designation, Certified Wealth Strategist® (CWS®) designation, and the Accredited Investment Fiduciary® (AIF®) designation.


The CSA is sponsored by the Society of Certified Senior Advisors ® (CSA) Applicants must pass a background check, complete work experience or education requirements, pass an examination, and complete 30 hours of continuing education every three years.

This training is focused on a complete investment process for making investment decisions consistent with fiduciary standards of care, which are focused on the best interests of the investor and/or beneficiary. The fiduciary process is based on placing the client’s best interests first and following a “prudent process.” The primary fiduciary precepts are loyalty and care. The process is based on law, regulation, and best practices which increases the likelihood of positive outcomes for investors and reduces liability for fiduciaries and other service providers.

The Certified Wealth Strategist® is a designation that aligns the needs of financial services firms, advisors, and consumers. The program incorporates three competencies required to be productive and effective as a wealth advisor: Creating business routines, applying client interaction and relationship skills and obtaining competency in the technical wealth management issues faced by the both the average and high Net-Worth investor.


The Certified Wealth Strategist® study program is a rigorous blend of classroom work, self-study. The program includes “Wealth Management Issues” study guides and mastery exams, Additionally, participants engage in assignments requiring both written and user-generated video responses. The learning experience culminates with a 50 page strictly graded, "Capstone Project which allows the participant to demonstrate their capability to use new knowledge and skills. Participants achieve significant levels of mastery and business growth by integrating financial advice competency with the ability to deliver expertise from multiple real-world perspectives. The designation is based on the premise that very client deserves sound advice and exceptional service. There is a strong focus on a collaborative relationship with clients and their tax, legal, and other specialists.
